Stopping Violent Arrest Practices in Lakeland, Florida
Bobby DiCello is representing three individuals who have suffered abuse at the hands of police in Lakeland, Florida. He is also working with advocates seeking to address systemic police misconduct in that community.
Bobby’s clients include:
- Antwan Glover, who was stopped by Lakeland police, physically assaulted, and repeatedly tased and beaten;
- Jahmal Hudson, a minor who was swimming with friends at an area pool when Lakeland police asked him to leave, which quickly escalated into them verbally abusing Jahmal while punching him in the face and tasing him; and
- DeAnthony Williams, a paraplegic who was stopped by Lakeland police and maliciously moved from his vehicle and slammed to the ground.
None of the officers involved in any of these violent incidents have faced either suspension or any disciplinary procedures.
Bobby is asking for a dialogue between his clients and the police. “We want these men to have a say in what happened to them,” he says. “We demand a meeting with the Chief of Police of the City of Lakeland, and we demand that he sits and confronts what his officers have done.”
